Mountain sports as well as apple picking and rose festivals are among tourism events that will be staged this year in Xiaojin County in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province.

The events were promoted with traditional local performances at the Global Harbor Mall in Shanghai’s Putuo District on Monday.

Craft workers displayed the local intangible cultural heritage of Jiarong embroidery weaving.

Local agricultural and specialty products such as tea, beef and cordyceps sinesis fungus were on display as well as a photo exhibition featuring the county's natural scenery.

There was a lucky draw of Xiaojin tourism packages.

Xiaojin, in the south of the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, has an altitude of 2,367 meters and is 268 kilometers from Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan.

It is home to Mount Siguniang, literally "Four Girls Mountain," the Hongqiaogou valley, forest, fall, brook and lake and Balang Mountain scenic spot.

Mount Siguniang National Park was identified as a UNESCO Heritage Site as part of Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries in 2006.

Xiaojin also has unique folk customs and ecological products, said Wei Chaogang, deputy Party secretary of Xiaojin.

A rose festival will be held from June to August together with a forum and food festival in Xiaojin. A traditional mountain god worship ceremony will be held at Mount Siguniang on June 6-7 to pray for good luck.

An apple-picking festival will take place in September, while mountain sports games with the participation of university students will be organized in August.
