Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang met Teo Chee Hean, deputy prime minister of Singapore, and his delegation on April 13.

Warmly welcoming the guests, Li stressed the long-term friendship between Singapore and China. As the biggest economic center of China, Shanghai is accelerating the construction of “five centers” and building an advanced socialist culture while working to evolve into an international metropolitan city, he added.

Li said he hopes to strengthen exchanges with Singapore in the areas of finance, trade, shipping and urban management and achieve a win-win cooperation.

Teo said he is impressed with Shanghai’s development and voiced hopes of establishing a comprehensive mechanism for cooperation as soon as possible to tackle common challenges.
