Mayor Ying meets European industry leaders

Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met Frank Stangenberg-Haverkamp, chairman of the Family Board of E. Merck KG, and Luc Chatel, head of the French Auto Industry Association, on Wednesday.

Ying said that Shanghai is making efforts in promoting the development of the bio-medicine and automobile industries. Welcoming foreign investment projects, the mayor said he hopes more overseas enterprises will bring advanced development models and experience to the city.

Stangenberg-Haverkamp said that Shanghai is an important overseas investment base for E. Merck KG and the group will expand investment in the city in the future.

Chatel held the view that France and China share common issues in the process of urban development. The French Auto Industry Association is willing to enhance exchanges and cooperation with partners in Shanghai.
