New method to remove old paint
The city’s road administrators said on Thursday that they have started using a new method to remove old traffic lines and symbols from local streets.
When traffic patterns changed in the past, old lines and symbols were effaced with a sanding machine and then covered with black paint. Over time though, the paint would fade and old markings sometimes caused confusion among motorists.
The road administration bureau has now started to use high-pressure water jets to remove old markings.
The new method requires more time, but is more environment-friendly and the results are longer lasting, the bureau said.
