Eleven biological medicine startups displayed their brilliant ideas to attract money and partners in a roadshow on Thursday at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center.

The roadshow is part of the “Tech Express," which aims to turn ideas into products by connecting startups with listed companies.

It was initiated by the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Its Shanghai leg, the first roadshow this year, is being held during the 7th China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair. And it focuses on biological medicine startups that cover biologics — drugs produced from living organisms.

One such group is Canada Intelligent Hair Health Group. It displayed a “robot doctor,” embedded with advanced technologies such as visual recognition, which can diagnose causes of hair loss and offer tailor-made treatments — from herbal medicine to stem cell-based treatment.

The group hopes to raise 50 million yuan (US$7.46million) in its A round financing. Suzhou Zoezen Co, which has designed a robot that assists in vertebral surgery using a minimally invasive approach — hopes to raise 80 million yuan.
