Party Secretary Li meets Swiss president
Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang met Swiss President Ueli Maurer and warmly welcomed his visit on Tuesday.
Li introduced the social development status of the city. He said that Switzerland and China have achieved long-term friendship and extensive cooperation and exchanges in various areas.
Maurer and his delegation’s attendance at the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, which will kick off in Beijing tomorrow, will further improve the friendly relationship between the two countries.
At the Shanghai Stock Exchange yesterday, Maurer witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the Shanghai bourse and its Swiss counterpart for a stock connect program. The MoU will serve to deepen mutual cooperation in finance.
Maurer said that his China visit is aimed at deepening the innovative strategic partnership between the two countries. He expected further cooperation with Shanghai in the areas of finance, trade, sci-tech etc.
