Everything's coming up roses at Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden
A Chinese rose exhibition will open at the Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden in Songjiang District on Friday.
It will feature 880 varieties, some rare, in seven display areas covering 42,000 square meters including a 2.5-kilometer route.
The roses are arranged into artworks such as a love station, romantic train and flower shop.
There will also be five Chinese rose bridges, a Chinese rose flower maze and a Chinese rose market.
Some Chinese roses on display feature different shapes such as a butterfly or bell, and some blooms can have 100 petals.
A variety of activities will be held during the show which runs through May 20. These include a grassland music festival, an aerial photography competition, games, gardening class, flower arrangement and a lecture of Chinese rose culture.
