The 5th Shanghai Radio Festival that takes place from May 18 to 27 will celebrate the 70th anniversary of Radio Shanghai.

A series of interactive programs will be on offer with 70 listeners selected to visit to the city’s historical sites which have witnessed the development of the station, including the former site of Radio Shanghai at 129 Yan’an Road W. and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower.

A collection of essays featuring memories of local radio workers of different generations will be released on May 23.

The festival will also feature the final of a contest for radio presenters. The contest has attracted around 1,800 entrants and finalists may get offers from Radio Shanghai.

Industry professionals will attend forums during the festival to discuss new possibilities for cooperation among radio channels in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Exhibitions at the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and local subway stations will look back at the development of the radio industry in Shanghai over the years.

Live radio parties will also give listeners a chance to meet well-known radio presenters.
