A new primate animal display area opens at Shanghai Wild Animal Park.

A new primate animal area opened to the public at the Shanghai Wild Animal Park in Pudong New Area on Saturday, featuring about 70 primates of some 10 species.

These include black-handed spider monkey, red howler monkey, white-faced saki, golden lion tamarin, gray langur, and Hamadryas baboon - from Africa, America and Asia.

The 10,000-square-meter area does not have any glass wall or iron bars, giving visitors an up-close look.

The environment simulates these animals' natural habitats as closely as possible with caves, rocks, bushes, tropical plants and perches.

There is also a science education center and night tours.
