Mayor Ying meets UN-Habitat executive director

Ying Yong, Mayor of Shanghai, met Ms. Maimunah Mohd Sharif, executive director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), on Sunday.

Shanghai is a metropolis with a population of more than 24 million, and we are happy to see the World Cities Day, initiated by the Shanghai Declaration at the Shanghai World Expo on October 31, 2010, has become a holiday for cities worldwide, Ying said.

Shanghai is willing to deepen cooperation with the UN-Habitat and promote the World Cities Day initiative across the globe in order to join hands and solve common problems for all countries, he added.
