G40 to close for bike race

A part of the G40 expressway will be closed on Friday due to a bike race  in Chongming District, police announced on Sunday.

The expressway, which is a major route between urban Shanghai and Chongming Island, will be closed from Gaodong to Chenhai toll gates between 11am and 1pm. Traffic in the other direction won't be affected.

Some other streets in the district will also be closed intermittently next week.

Chongming Avenue between Gulangyu Road and Jiangfan Road will be closed from 9am on Monday to 4pm on Sunday, and Jiangnan Avenue from Fenghuang Highway to Fengrong Road from 12pm on Thursday to 2pm on Friday.

From May 9 to 11, some parts of the district will be closed to traffic from 10am to 4pm.
