Anhui Province is inviting Shanghainese to visit its attractions by promoting its landscape, culture and history.

The Southern Anhui International Cultural Tourism Destination Zone promotion in Changning District kicked off on Wednesday, offering discounts to attractions in the zone, with videos displaying its beauty and local performances.

Anhui Province will increase tourism cooperation with Shanghai, and is developing a number of boutique attractions and routes, said Yang Guangrong, vice governor of the province.

The zone has seven cities: Huangshan, Chizhou, Anqing, Xuancheng, Tongling, Ma'anshan and Wuhu. It includes Yellow Mountain, the world cultural heritage villages of Xidi and Hongcun and the Jiuhuashan Mountains.

The zone gathers the best resources of tourism, culture and ecology in Anhui, and the target is to build it into a world-level tourist destination, said Yang.

Anhui boasts a beautiful natural landscape and a deep history, which is attractive to Shanghai tourists, said Shanghai Vice Mayor Zong Ming.

Anhui and Shanghai are complementary in terms of tourism resources and have huge potential for cooperation, said Zong.

Four routes connecting world heritage sites, cultural attractions, beautiful landscapes and the Chinese four treasures of study (writing brushes, ink sticks, paper and ink stones) were promoted during the event.
