Learn how to stamp out cockroaches

About 79 percent of local residents have found cockroaches in their homes in the past two years and nearly half of the cockroaches were seen in their kitchens, according to a survey of 3,000 households in nine districts.

However, many residents don’t know how to deal with cockroaches and 80 percent want to participate in government-organized campaigns against them, the local health authority said on Friday.

A charity campaign against cockroaches has over 6,000 families in its pilot program, which invites professionals to teach them how to deal with cockroaches at home.

A cartoon video on cockroach prevention and control at home was also launched on Friday to give the public simple directions. The video can be viewed on the public Weibo accounts of Health Shanghai 12320 and the city government.
