Summer or winter, Heilongjiang is a favorite of Shanghai tourists
Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province has designed 20 new itineraries to attract Shanghai tourists this summer.
The new itineraries string together Yichun Wuying National Forest Park, home of more than 250 species of animal, Yichun Tangwang River National Forest Park, Fenghuang Mountain National Forest Park, Zhalong National Nature Reserve (known for its red-crowned cranes), Heixiazi Island National Wetland Park, Jingpo Lake and Xingkai Lake.
They also take visitors to the volcanic landscapes of Mohe County, the most northern place in China, where the northern lights can sometimes be seen.
Forest and wetland are the two key words of Heilongjiang’s summer tourism this year. The new routes are designed for different age groups, and for both independent tourists and organized group tours.
On the list is night tours of Harbin, the capital city, and 264 summer music performances in the city.
About 5,100 performances will be held across the province this summer, including performances by Russian symphony orchestras and operas.
Heilongjiang and Shanghai have deep connections, and their tourism resources are highly complementary, said Zhang Lina, Party secretary and director of the administration.
Famed mostly for its winter ice events, Heilongjiang is also a popular summer resort.
Almost half of its territory is forested. Wudalianchi Scenic Area features some of the world’s outstanding volcanic landforms.
