Making Party music

Party education is anything but boring and old-fashioned.

On Friday evening, a special Party education class was held in the atrium of the CITIC Square mall in Jing'an District, a high-end retailing mall and popular destination among trendsetters.

It is part of the district’s efforts to bring white-collar workers closer to the Party, and also an event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Shanghai this week.

It started with a flash mob where local white-collar workers played guitar, sang patriotic songs and interacted with passers-by.

They injected new blood into the traditional Party education and attracted many young people to wait to see what’s going on.

Then, renowned radio hostess Qin Chang told revolutionary stories of the city over the last 70 years. She also talked to white-collar workers, sharing their stories with the city and exchanging ideas of today’s hot topics.

From May, the district will hold the event every month in one landmark, such as popular malls or “Red” revolutionary sites.
