'Couch Soup' mixes it up with 'Macbeth' in Yangpu

Students from 13 schools in Yangpu District have shown off their English drama skills with a series of plays at the Shidong High School.
The dramas at the Yangpu English Drama Festival ranged from the classic “Robin Hood” by Alexandre Dumas to Shakespeare’s “Macbeth,” to “Couch Soup,” a series of haiku-style scenes written by students themselves, and “The Jungle Book” by Rudyard Kipling.
Their presentations were the result of learning and rehearsal with professional foreign drama teachers through the past school year under a regional program that promotes English drama education.
All the participating schools, including Shidong, Lansheng Fudan Middle School, Xindaqiao Middle School, Yangpu Senior High School and Fudan Experimental High School, are regular local schools but are piloting international courses.
The event was the third organized by the Yangpu Education International Exchange Service Center.
