Driver injured as cargo wagon hits dump truck on highway
A cargo wagon rear-ended a dump truck on Tingfeng Expressway in suburban Shanghai's Jinshan District on Sunday morning.
Local firefighters soon arrived on the scene after the wagon driver called for emergency help.
The collision — that happened around 4:45am — caused great damage to the wagon, whose frontside was twisted, though the dump truck just absorbed a few scratches. The driver of the wagon couldn’t get out of the vehicle as his leg was jammed by the steering wheel.
The firefighters used a hydraulic clamp to break open the wagon. Five minutes later, the driver was rescued from his seat. Doctors, who arrived with the ambulance, said the driver’s injuries were not life-threatening. He was taken to hospital for further treatment. The dump truck driver didn't suffer any injuries.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
