A "woodpecker" team of office workers in Hongkou’s North Bund Subdistrict was established on Tuesday to relate irregularities in garbage sorting to urban management and law enforcement officials.

The “woodpecker” campaign is expected to be launched citywide to promote garbage sorting, according to the Shanghai Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau.

A promotional campaign on domestic garbage sorting was conducted in the district on Tuesday, with officials visiting a primary school and an industrial park to promote waste classification.
