An exhibition of fashion at Shanghai Fashion Center in Yangpu District fuses tradition and modernity.

“Tradition Now” gathers domestic brands, manufacturers, culture institutions and e-commerce operators who share the idea that the best way to retain tradition is to merge it into daily modern life.

With the cooperation with artisans and craftsman, manufacturers are making use of traditional elements like brocade and wood carving.

Shanghai Museum is among the exhibitors, presenting new porcelain souvenirs for an ongoing china exhibition at the museum.

“Ahead of Dragon Boat Festival, we hope people will join us in creating a better environment for the inheritance of traditional culture,” said Mi Cheng, CEO of organizer Traditionow Co.

“We are a bridge between craftsman, enterprises and institutes, so traditional handicrafts become part of people’s everyday lives, while the craftsmen are guaranteed an income. All it takes is a bit of innovation," said Mi.
