The first Shanghai Magnolia International Piano Festival will be held from July 30 to August 3, creating a high-level piano feast for children, teenagers and all who aspire to become pianists.

The festival will feature concerts, lectures, a piano competition and an exhibition.

In a special performance, pianists Wang Lu and Zhu Haobing will join 70 children to play the famous patriotic song “The Yellow River.”

Organizers will bring young pianists to welfare institutions, nursing homes and special schools to perform to pass on their love of music.

Nuonuo, aged 6, born with a hearing impairment, began to practice the piano after a cochlear implant at the age of 3. Now, she has not only won many awards, but is able to attend an ordinary school.

Her mother said: “Let her ears become her pride!”

The organizers hope the piano can light up lives of more people like Nuonuo.
