A 42-year-old man has been detained for alleged indecent behavior towards a 17-year-old girl, police said on Friday.
Police in Jiading District received a report on June 12 that a man was cuddling and kissing a seemingly teenage girl while assisting her with schoolwork in a cafe.
The incident took place in a Starbucks in a shopping mall on Shengxin Road. Some customers called the police.
Police soon arrived on the scene and took the man away. He claims he was contacted by the girl on the Internet to assist her with schoolwork, but he has no qualifications as a teacher, police said.
Investigation is still underway.
