2 local hotels among 49 cited for hygiene problems

Two Shanghai hotels were among the list of 49 hotels whose irregularities were exposed by the country's National Health Commission, following a nationwide hygiene inspection early this year.

Among the local hotels was Shanghai Juyuan Hotel in Xuhui District, which arranged staff without health certificates to serve consumers, and it was also found to have failed to conduct hygiene checks at public venues as required.

In addition, it did not clean and disinfect items used by consumers in accordance with the requirements, according to the commission.

Shanghai Aishen Hotel Management Co Ltd in Changning District was cited for operating without a public hygiene permit, and failure to clean and disinfect items used by consumers based on requirements, the commission revealed.

Also on the "black" list was an outlet of GreenTree Inn Chain in Ninghai, neighboring Zhejiang Province, for arranging staff without health certificates to serve consumers and failing to clean and disinfect items used by consumers as required.

In addition, 45 hotels were cited for frequent violations between March last year and March this year.

These included City Hotel Shanghai in downtown Jing'an District, Shanghai Jian'ai Hotel Management Co Ltd, Shanghai Xinlianyi Mansion Co Ltd, Shanghai Jingrong Hotel Management Co Ltd in Huangpu District and Shanghai Shutian Hotel Management Co Ltd in suburban Songjiang District, according to the commission.

The Beijing branch of Shanghai budget chain hotel Hanting and Sheraton Guiyang Hotel were also named.
