An alliance has been established in Shanghai to promote innovation in fin-tech education and applications.

The China Fin-Tech Education Applied Innovation Alliance was initiated by Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance and Huike Group and joined by several other universities offering fin-tech education, and leading enterprises in the field.

The alliance will integrate resources from the government, universities, industry and society to cultivate fin-tech talent and provide support for the fin-tech industry, according to Gu Xiaomin, vice president of Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance.

The university has also launched a joint program with New Jersey Institute of Technology to cultivate fin-tech talent.

A forum was also held after the launch ceremony of the alliance, where experts from home and abroad shared views, pointing out that talent should be interdisciplinary and and is badly lacking in some enterprises, including banks.

The area lacks mature curriculum and teaching staff, which widens the gap between supply and demand.
