Yangtze Delta blockchain association formed
A Yangtze River Delta blockchain association was founded at Shanghai Science Hall on Friday, announcing itself with the results of a competition.
Blockchain creates networks where programs and information are difficult to destroy or falsify, and is an import security measure in the transfer of data and rights.
The technology is already widely used in China, and more than half of the patents for domestic blockchain payment applications originate in the delta region, said Wang Yi, director with the Shanghai Blockchain Technology Association.
A judging panel of experts selected 10 applications from around 100 entries to compete for three awards.
The top 10 cover areas including agriculture, anti-counterfeit and IPR. Soundlinks, for example, a local startup, uses blockchain to protect the IPR of composers and artists.
Winners of the three awards will be announced on Saturday.
