The suspect caught on surveillance cameras
A man who allegedly stole waimai (food delivery) from a deliveryman has been caught, police said on Tuesday.
A deliveryman surnamed Zhou working in Jiading District told the police on the evening of June 14 two portions of dumplings and a pack of cigarettes ordered by customers were missing from his delivery box.
From the surveillance camera, police spotted a man in a blue T-shirt who took waimai from Zhou’s e-bike.
While the investigation was underway, Zhou told his colleagues to look out for the suspect. Two days later, colleagues caught the man in blue on the street and turned him in to the police, police said.
The suspect, a man surnamed Shen, has allegedly confessed and said he had stolen from the deliverymen several times in the past two months.
