A summit on the innovative and integrated development of China's culture, health and tourism industries was held at Fudan University in Yangpu District on Wednesday.

It gathered 350 government officials, scholars and industry insiders to share their expertise and insights.

Topics included current policies in culture and tourism and their industry influences, the development and prospects of the elderly care industry, the issues of an aging population and the development of China's culture, health and tourism industries.

During round-table discussions, experts shared views on the trends of China's culture, health and tourism industries, means of integration and industry development.

"The care of seniors with dementia is the biggest challenge in terms of the integrated services of senior care, nursing and medical treatment in China," said Peng Xizhe, director of the Center for Population and Development Policy Studies of Fudan University.

In Shanghai, the number of seniors with dementia is estimated at 200,000.

An industry-university-research cooperation memorandum of understanding was signed by the School of Social Development and Public Policy of Fudan University and two enterprises in property development.

They will cooperate in the innovative and integrated development of the culture, health and tourism industries, high-level forums and personnel training.

An industry-university-research alliance for the innovative and integrated development of China's culture, health and tourism industries was also established during the forum. It will gather universities, enterprises, think tanks and social organizations for the upgrading of the industries.
