Mayor Ying meets Bulgarian president
Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met Bulgaria President Rumen Georgiev Radev in Shanghai yesterday.
On behalf of the Shanghai municipal government and Shanghai people, Ying warmly welcomed the president to the city.
Bulgaria is one of the first nations to establish diplomatic relations with China and signed a cooperation document on the Belt and Road strategy in middle and eastern Europe, Ying noted, adding that Shanghai and the Bulgarian capital Sofia established friendly city relationship in 2016.
Ying said that Shanghai will push forward exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, protection of historical relics, culture and tourism with Sofia according to the consensus reached by the two heads of state.
President Radev said that the close relationship between Bulgaria and China, especially the newly upgraded strategic partner relationship between the two nations, has opened new space for cooperation in various areas, and hoped to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Shanghai to benefit the two peoples.
Dong Xiaojun, Chinese ambassador to Bulgaria; Grigor Porozhanov, Bulgarian ambassador to China; and Xu Kunlin, vice mayor of Shanghai, also attended the meeting.
