Around 150 children suffering from rare or chronic disease and their parents were in the city for a two-day camp to learn about how to manage their diseases and get psychological support.

The program, organized by China Children and Teenagers’ Fund and Takeda China, is designed to improve the families' quality of life and offer them a brighter future.

Courses on genes, chromosomes, inheritance and evolution were given to the children, with interactive programs triggering their interest in science during the camp, which ended on Thursday.

Fund officials said the camp will become a platform to help families get access to more useful scientific and psychological knowledge and information and to call for more social awareness of children with rare or chronic diseases.
