Setting new medical standards in the era of 3D printing
Moves to create standards for 3D printing of medical instruments began at the Shanghai East Hospital in the Pudong New Area on Saturday.
The 10 standards will cover metallic implants, oral implants, orthopedics related with 3D printing and the management system of the manufacturing quality of 3D printing medical apparatus and instruments.
A two-day training on 3D printing medical items also kicked off at the hospital on Saturday, gathering hundreds of experts, physicians and enterprise representatives of the field.
"The technical application of 3D printing is increasingly broader in China, while there is a big shortage of 3D printing talent in the country," said Yang Jing, secretary general of the 3D printing medical apparatus and instrument committee.
The event was jointly hosted by the Shanghai Medical Association, the Shanghai Medical Doctor Association and the 3D printing medical apparatus and instrument committee.
