One person was killed and four others injured in a traffic accident on Saturday, Shanghai police said on Sunday.

The accident, which took place on Maotai Road near Furongjiang Road in Changning District at 12:04pm, was caused by a 22-year-old female driver, who "miscommanded" her car, according to the police.

The woman, surnamed Cao, allegedly bumped into a bus, a minibus and three e-bikers when driving from east to west on the street.

Cao and her co-passenger along with the three e-bikers were injured in the collision but one of the e-bikers, a 32-year-old man surnamed Lian, later died in hospital, police said, adding that the other four were not critically injured.

Police revealed that Cao was not driving under the influence of alcohol, and the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
