73-year-old held over killings

Police in Pudong say suspect told them he killed his grandson and former daughter-in-law because of a family dispute.

A man has been apprehended by police after two people were killed in the Pudong New Area on Wednesday, police said.

The 73-year-old, surnamed Dai, is said to have confessed to killing his grandson at his former daughter-in-law's home and then killed the woman, the boy's mother, in the residential building.

Police said Dai told them the killings were due a family dispute. 

The incidents took place around 2pm in a residential complex on Dongxiu Road, according to police, and Dai was caught at the scene.
