Eton Hotel Shanghai loses 5-star rating

A five-star hotel in the Pudong New Area lost that accolade while another five five-star hotels in Shanghai have been ordered to rectify problems within 12 months, China's tourism star hotel rating committee announced on Monday. 

Five hotels nationwide, including the Eton Hotel Shanghai in the Lujiazui area, were found to have serious hygiene, fire safety and service problems in recent undercover inspections, the committee said. 

Another 11 hotels, including five in Shanghai, were ordered to fix such problems within a year. On the list are the Regal International East Asia Hotel, Shanghai Purple Mountain Hotel, the Longemont Shanghai Hotel, Double Tree by Hilton Shanghai-Pudong, and Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts.
