A total of 21 suspects have been caught for allegedly selling fake garments, shoes and bags of luxury brands, Shanghai police said on Tuesday.

During raids in Guangdong, Jiangsu and Shanghai last month, police seized fake products whose authentic counterparts are estimated to be worth about 80 million yuan (US$11 million).

Based on a tip-off, police in Shanghai's Baoshan District caught a man named Zhou who is accused of selling fake luxury products, and found that he purchased the products from someone in Guangdong who was probably running a big operation.

Police then identified two men in Guangdong believed to be the sources of the fakes who sold the products to three people in Shanghai and another in Jiangsu.

The suspects were caught at six locations in July. Eight have been arrested and 13 are on bail.
