A tourist wins a gift during the promotion. 

Qinshu, a traditional opera of Xuzhou and a national intangible cultural heritage, and traditional dances of the Han style were performed in the Yuyuan scenic area in Huangpu District on Saturday.

It was part of a move by cultural and tourism authorities from Xuzhou to promote the culture, history, scenery and allure of the ancient city in neighboring Jiangsu Province to Shanghai tourists. 

The performances offered a glimpse into the splendid culture of Xuzhou, which is the birthplace of Liu Bang, the first emperor of the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), and traditional Chinese culture as well.

The event aimed to increase tourism cooperation with Shanghai and introduce Shanghai tourists the charm of Xuzhou, the city's administration of culture, radio and television and tourism said. 

A lucky draw of tourist attraction tickets and sachets was hosted.

Xuzhou is home to a number of Han Dynasty cultural attractions, including the Guishan Mountain Scenic Area, the Yunlong Lake Scenic Area and the Peixian Island Wetland Scenic Area.

The city, originally called Pengcheng, boasts more than 5,000 years of culture. The Han Dynasty cultural attractions include the Lion Hill Tomb, the Museum of Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses of the Han Dynasty and the Guishan Mountain Scenic Area, which is the site of the tomb of a Western Han Dynasty emperor.
