Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met a Nagasaki-ken Prefecture delegation led by Governor Norimichi Nakamura in Shanghai yesterday.

China and Japan are important neighbors, and “we should join hands to make more contribution towards maintaining world peace and promoting mutual development”, Ying said.

Shanghai will strengthen cooperation with Nagasaki in the areas of economy, trade and tourism, and boost exchanges between youth of both sides, according to Ying.

“We will learn from the experience of Japan, including Nagasaki, in the areas of society governance, urban renovation and transportation, and we welcome enterprises from Japan to participate actively in the 2nd China International Import Expo to be held in November,” he added.

Nagasaki has had a long-term economic and trade relationship with China, including Shanghai, which, together with the friendship between the two sides, has become an important treasure of Nagasaki, Nakamura said.

“We hope the exchange and cooperation between us can be strengthened and deepened continuously in order to pass down the friendship in the future,” Nakamura added.
