Lishui promotes tourism in Shanghai
Authorities from Lishui, in neighboring Zhejiang Province, launched a week-long promotional campaign in Shanghai on Monday.
Fifteen cooperation project agreements covering ecological tourism and agriculture were signed at the start of the event, which also includes cultural activities like traditional fish lantern dances from Lishui and a Kunqu Opera performance.
Suichang zongzi, a traditional Chinese snack made to celebrate Dragon Boat Festival, and time-honored Jinyun noodles, were also showcased.
Lishui will step up the development of its ecological agricultural products, countryside tourism and rural minsu (B&Bs) to make it a top destination of Shanghai tourists, said the Lishui City government.
Shanghai vice mayor Zong Ming attended the event.
The government of Lishui signed a cooperation agreement with Shanghai-based travel operator Ctrip, and the latter will develop 20 themed tour itineraries to Lishui.
Lishui, ideal for a weekend getaway from Shanghai, is home to the Yunhe terraced fields, Nanjianyan scenic area and Xiandu scenic area. It takes two hour and 20 minutes to reach Lishui from Shanghai by high-speed railway.
On Tuesday, the government of Liandu District in Lishui revealed their new tourism mascot, which is based on the area's well-know lotus flowers.
The Liandu District government will also host promotions in universities and residential communities in Shanghai and Shanghai Disney Resort to make more tourists in the Yangtze River Delta region aware of Liandu, said Guo Qiaoyan, deputy governor of the district.
On Monday, Liandu displayed its agricultural products such as Meifeng tea and Chuzhou honey in the Pudong New Area.
Liandu boasts the Dongxi Rock scenic area, China's first photography museum, and the charming Guyan Huaxiang Town.
