A banquet with a purpose as students choose which dishes will feature on Donghua University menus in future.

A special banquet was organized at Donghua University on Tuesday for students to taste food from Suichang County in Zhejiang Province.

It was the seventh food culture festival organized by the university for students to taste food from all over the country and select the most popular dishes for its canteens.

The event has become so popular that this year’s 150 tickets were snapped up in 23 seconds.

The dishes, not only delicious but beautifully presented, included Suichang specialties such as fried yellow rice cake and fried bean curd, and representative dishes from the Shanghai-based university, such as fried shrimp cake and meatballs wrapped in lotus leaves.

Students will vote for the food and the most popular will be available in campus canteens.
