Thirteen consulting stations for elderly nursing have been set up in 12 towns or subdistricts in Jiading since last year.

“My wife and I are not accustomed to the life overseas, and we lack people to take care of us, so I came to consult the nursing service in the community,” Sun Huazheng, 65, said after visiting the consulting station in the Service Center for Seniors in Nanxiang Town.

The consultants can make a tailor-made service list for older people according to their age, health and specific needs. Apart from nursing homes, the seniors can also have the

option to choose from daytime care and door-to-door services.

Wu Xiaojin, who is in his late 70s, asked about long-term care insurance for himself at the Service Center for Seniors in the Jiading Town Community.

Consultant Liu Xinxiu found Wu, who was in financial difficulties, could apply for discounts in insurance and free housekeeping services.

Liu made a list for Wu that covered all the services suitable for him so that he could apply for them.

“After Liu’s explanation, I had a clear idea of the service and felt relieved,” Wu said.

In the future, a series of consulting systems covering the livelihood of residents will be

introduced in towns, subdistricts and villages across the district to benefit more people, making them easily accessible for local residents, according to local senior care authority.
