Party Secretary Li meets CIC delegation

Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang met a delegation, led by Peng Chun, chairman of China Investment Corporation, in Shanghai yesterday.

Shaukat Aziz, former prime minister of Pakistan, and Gerhard Schroeder, former German chancellor, were part of the delegation as they are taking part in the meeting of the international advisory committee of CIC.

Li said that the local government is thoroughly implementing the essence of the important speech given by General Party Secretary Xi Jinping in Shanghai, accelerating the construction of international economic, financial, trade, shipping and technological innovation centers.

“To better implement the three new major tasks and accelerate the establishment of an international financial center that is compatible with China’s economic strength and the international status of the renminbi, we require the active participation of financial institutions, such as CIC, as well as the support of the international financial industry and academic circles,” he added.

“We will continue to improve the business environment and create better conditions and better services for Chinese and foreign financial companies in Shanghai.”

CIC is holding the meeting of its international advisory committee in Shanghai, and it will fully support the construction of the “five centers”, especially the international financial center, in Shanghai, Peng said.

City leader Zhuge Yujie and Ju Weimin, general manager of CIC, also attended the meeting.
