Shanghai health authorities announced 40 new health-related projects on Thursday, which include a push to ban electric cigarette smoking at public venues and the launch of an Internet-based vaccination service.

Under the Health Shanghai Plan 2019-2030, Shanghai Health Commission selected the 40 projects from nearly 100 candidates to promote health education, improve public awareness, better health services and introduce health policies targeting major diseases, key populations and important issues.

Other projects include those aimed at early screening and treatment of cancer, vision health management for children, and trials of psychological services.

Projects to streamline the integration of emergency medical services in the Yangtze River Delta region and health information sharing in the region will also be carried out.

The commission said all 40 projects have or will be launched in steps.
