Search for a GP star well-received

Shanghai Health Commission said it has effectively used local media to draw attention to general practitioners, who play an important role in the health service.

A competition on Shanghai Education TV Station to find the best GP in the city has had a great effect, officials said on Saturday.

The 32 candidates selected from some 5,000 GPs brought their stories on the screen and showed off their skills, encouraging residents to go to their neighborhood health centers.

In addition to TV station, the program is also broadcast on outdoor screens in office buildings and residential complexes, covering nearly 40 million people.
