China Post is delivering expo certificates free to applicants with a delivery address in the Chinese mainland.

More than 420,000 certificates for attendees at the second China International Import Expo have been produced, Shanghai police said on Wednesday.

Last year, there were 17 kinds of certificate, and some people had to wear several at the same time, but there will be just five this year.

Around 650,000 were issued last year, and roughly the same number will be issued this year, according to Lu Wei, director of the certificate management group of the CIIE security department of Shanghai Public Security Bureau.

All applicants for certificates with an address on the Chinese mainland will get them delivered free. Foreigners who don't have such an address can pick them up at the venue.

Wang Liang, a China Post manager in Qingpu District, said his team was working at full capacity to deliver the certificates to expo visitors in time.

"We now deliver about 30,000 certificates every day," he said.

The first certificates, for exhibitors and professional visitors, were issued at the end of last month. The other three kinds are for special guests, journalists and staff working at the expo.

Police at the certificate management center will be monitoring the use of certificates, collecting and analyzing the number of holders who enter the venue through different gates for crowd control purposes.
