Legislators visit Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People’s Court on Wednesday.

Shanghai legislators started their annual year-end inspection tour on Wednesday.

The inspection usually comes before the proceeding year’s meeting of the Shanghai People’s Congress.

This year, about 600 legislators will focus on enhancing the business environment through rule of law, waste sorting and processing, the private sector, innovation development and rural revival, among other topics.

This year’s inspection will last until December 3.

Dozens of legislators visited Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People’s Court on Wednesday and talked to the city’s judges and prosecutors about their handling of business and financial cases, especially the ever growing volume of cases related to illegal fundraising and absorption of public deposits.

The legislators are calling for national attention to crack down on such cases. They urge the government to take measures to prevent and curb such crimes, which tend to bring huge losses to a great number of victims.
