Party Secretary Li meets top company execs

Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang met representatives of the top executives attending the 31st International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council, in Shanghai on Saturday morning.

The business leaders included Michael Diekmann, chairman of the Supervisory Board, Allianz SE and also chair of IBLAC; Carmine Di Sibio, global chairman and chief executive officer of EY; Mark E. Tucker, group chairman of HSBC Holdings Plc; and Severin Schwan, CEO of Roche Group.

Li welcomed the business leaders to join the 31st IBLAC and expressed his gratitude for their contributions to the development of Shanghai and the successful holding of the advisory councils in Shanghai for years.

Li said that Shanghai welcomes enterprises to expand investment and bring new products and platforms to the city and help raise the urban energy level and core competitiveness of Shanghai.

The second China International Import Expo will be held in Shanghai next month. All enterprises should demonstrate their innovative products and outstanding services on this open platform, Li said. Shanghai will create a world-class business environment and provide greater and more accurate support and services for Chinese and foreign companies to develop in the city, he added.

The business leaders expressed their confidence in the development of China, especially Shanghai, and said they will expand investment, and accelerate the pace of research and development to assist in the construction of Shanghai as a hub for finance, insurance, consulting and biomedicine. They will also actively participate in the second CIIE.

City leader Wu Qing and Mark Weinberger, former global chairman and CEO of EY and ex-president of the IBLAC, also attended the meeting.
