Shanghai residents and tour groups will be able to enjoy free or discounted admission to tourist attractions in central Henan Province between November and January, cultural and tourism authorities from the province announced in Shanghai over the weekend.

Shanghai residents can get free admission to the Yuntai Mountain scenic area, a geological park and 5A-rated national tourist attraction, between November 1 and January 31, the Henan Province Administration of Culture and Tourism announced.

Half-price admission to 12 tourist attractions will also be given to inbound tour groups and Shanghai residents above 60 years old during the period, according to the administration.

On the list are Yellow River Scenic Area, Southern Taihang Mountain Scenic Area, Sanmenxia Dam, Wulongkou Scenic Area, Guo State Museum, Hangu Pass, Xiaolangdi Reservoir and Millennium City Park which replicates scenes from the famous painting "Along the River During the Qingming Festival," the administration announced.

During a promotional event in Jing'an District, Shaolin kung fu, tai chi and acrobatics were performed, and examples of Henan's intangible cultural heritage of paper cutting and peony paintings were also displayed.

It is hoped that tourists visiting Henan can experience the culture and traditions of the area, said Jiang Jiding, director of the Henan Province Administration of Culture and Tourism.

Jiang also promoted education tour projects to the Yellow River.

Travel agencies and research and educational tour operators in Shanghai and Henan signed cooperation agreements during the event.
