Passengers getting off trains at Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station can take a shuttle service to the China International Import Expo, which kicks off on November 5, said China Railway Shanghai Company.

The service will cover a 1,500-meter-long underground passage that connects the railway station with a nearby shopping mall and the expo venue. It usually takes 20 minutes to walk the length of this passage, while shuttles can complete the same journey in just six minutes.

The passage, complete with bilingual signage, will officially open on Friday.

Meanwhile, China Railway said they are expecting more visitors to Shanghai because of the expo. A total of 138 extra trains will be added to facilitate passenger traffic.

More than 120 volunteers will be allocated to the city's three railway stations during the expo as well to provide information services to visitors.
