Party Secretary Li meets WIPO chief
Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang met World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Director General Francis Gurry before the 16th Shanghai International Intellectual Property Summit held on Monday.
Li warmly welcomed Gurry and his delegation, and thanked the WIPO for its support on the city’s intellectual property construction. Shanghai will further strengthen the creation, protection and utilization of intellectual property in the future to drive innovation, create a better environment for entrepreneurship and improve the core competitiveness of the city, he said.
Li hoped to enhance cooperation with the WIPO on IP transformation and utilization, arbitration and mediation, talent training, international exchanges and other areas so as to build Shanghai into an intellectual property center of the Asia-Pacific region.
Gurry was impressed by the achievements made by Shanghai in IP protection in recent years and looked forward to deepening cooperation with the city.
