The Pudong Grand Theater officially opened on Friday after renovations.

The Pudong Grand Theater officially opened on Friday after renovations. The theater, located at 61 Yangxin Road, used to be the Sanlin Town Cinema.
The theater is now home to a large opera room that has 728 seats.
Since trial operations began in September, the theater has staged nine plays and Chinese operas, drawing an audience of over 5,000.
On Friday, Shanghai Opera festival began at the theater with four classical Shanghai Operas.
By 2020, the theater expects to stage more than 200 shows and attract more than 200,000 theater-goers each year.
