A social training center for minors has been unveiled at Putuo District to help underage offenders, minors with serious behavior problems and underage victims, with the assistance of district procuratorate.

According to the Putuo District People's Procuratorate, the Dandelion Juvenile Social Training Center is the nation's first registered private non-enterprise organization for minor protection.

The information on minors involved in legal problems will be supplied to the center which will make profiles for each of them, investigate and communicate with them and their families to learn more about them.

Then they will be divided into groups and receive help and guidance from social workers on a one-to-one basis. They will be given skills training and take part in public welfare activities to help them find jobs in the future.

The center will strictly protect the minors' information confidential and help them back into society.

"The young offenders come to our center not only on order, but, more importantly, to receive training which can allow them to make a decent living," said Sun Jie, head of the center.

So far, eight minor offenders have been sent to work in restaurants, craft workshops and fitness centers for training. Two of them, who used to assist adults in thefts and scams told prosecutors they like the places where they are working and want to do more.
