Two men on a raft were rescued from the ocean by coast guard authorities on Thursday.

The coast guard said they received a call from one of the men on the raft at 3pm.

Apparently, the two got on the raft at Luchao Port in the Pudong New Area, but did not expect that it would drift out to open water. The flimsy raft was made only of metal boards with a railing on the side.

The two were not wearing life jackets.

Members of the coast guard rescued the pair within 20 minutes of receiving the call.

The two claimed that they worked in a factory near the shore.

The coast guard reminds residents not to take unsafe boats into the ocean. In case of emergency at sea, people can call 95110.
